Biography

Julia Brooks is a pediatric physiotherapist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary, AB. Julia was born and raised in Winnipeg where she graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2003 with a Bachelors of Medical Rehabilitation in Physiotherapy. Julia worked in Winnipeg for the first two years before having her quarter life crisis, quitting her job, and fleeing the country to go backpacking in Australia and New Zealand for a year. When she returned, she relocated to Calgary and has been working in the areas of Rheumatology and Hemophilia at the ACH since 2006.

Julia has been involved in multiple committees and boards in the areas of Rheumatology and Hemophilia including; the President of the Canadian Physiotherapists in Hemophilia Care for several years, as well as the camp committee for the Arthritis Society. She is also on the D and I committee, a Connect Care “superuser” and a PPE safety coach. Julia is trained in point of care ultrasound and is an advocate for having more physiotherapists be involved in the use of this modality.

Outside of being a physiotherapist, Julia is passionate about being active- pursuing many sports and activities. She also enjoys coaching and officiating for her two children in softball and speed skating. She is also passionate about animal rescue and volunteers with a shelter and fosters a variety of animals in her home with her children and VERY supportive husband!
