Session One: Tuesday February 2, 2021 7:00 – 9:00 pm EST “Twin Peaks: Challenges of Assessment and Management of New Onset RA in Young Women vs Older Adults”
Join us as Dr Dharini Mahendira discusses the challenges faced by young women with RA, focussing on pregnancy and breastfeeding concerns and Dr. Yan Yeung explores the challenges of new RA in the older adult and discusses the differential diagnoses including PMR.
Session Two: Tuesday February 9, 2021 11:00 am – 1:00 pm EST “Twin Peaks: Challenges of Providing Rheumatologic Care to Indigenous Peoples – System Equity and Personal Experience”
We are pleased to have Dr. Cheryl Barnabe, a Calgary rheumatologist with an interest in health equity discuss system gaps in rheumatology care for Indigenous patients. Dr. Henry Averns will then share his personal experiences providing rheumatology care in a First Nations community.
Session Three: Tuesday February 16, 2021 7:00 – 9:00 pm EST “Twin Peaks: Providing Virtual Care – Now and in the Future”
Each year, we strive to involve our partners in patient organizations in our Pre-Course. We welcome Jennifer Wilson and David Porte from Cassie and Friends, a patient support organization for children with JIA and their families to discuss their approach to providing virtual opportunities for this population. There will be an opportunity to share experiences with how we provide virtual care now. Then, we will hear from Dr. Sacha Bhatia about how the evolution of telemedicine will change how we deliver care to patients in the future, and how it will integrate with other digital innovations.
